FAQs (frequently asked questions)
Is the ski pass included in the ski course?
Ski passes have to be purchased separately at the cable cars. Children up to 6 years do not need a ski pass.
Our ski school kids, who are still skiing in the beginners' area, can use the lift facility and the magic carpet for free. When the course moves on to public lift facilities, children from 6 years will need a ski pass.
Note: If the whole family wants to use the ski lifts, we recommend purchasing a family ski pass from the first day.
Further information available at the Rauriser Hochalmbahnen.
Do beginners need a ski pass?
Yes. Everyone needs a ski pass to use the cable car facilities. Valid for beginners: On the first day purchase a beginners' ski pass for 1 day and after the course talk to your instructor about which ticket is the best for you for the rest of the week. The special ski pass rate is available at the cable car cashpoint only in the company of your instructor.
Are half day courses offered too?
We offer half day courses with private lessons and snowboard courses.
All other group course last four hours - (2 hours in the morning 10 am - noon and 2 hours in the afternoon 1 pm - 3 pm)!
Can children join the same group?
Grouping of children is mainly based on the skiing skills and the age of children. If your children or your friend's children are at the same skill level, please inform the technical manager during the grouping phase on the first day, and we will try our best to put them into the same group!
If the children are not at the same skill level, the child who skis better would have to join a lower skill group to meet the requirements of the weaker child.
Do I have to book the complete 5 or 6 course days or can I book fewer days?
Our programme for group courses builds up throughout the week with ski race and great programme offers. It therefore makes sense to participate in the course for the entire 5 or 6 days. It is however also possible to book fewer days.
For beginners especially, we recommend booking a weekly course.
Kids' courses: 4-6 days
Adult courses: 4-5 days
Valid for ALL snowboard courses: 4-6 days with 2 hours each day
Is it possible for adults and children to book a course at the same time?
Yes, grouping is done in a way that the meeting points for adults and children are in close proximity.
Children are looked after until they get picked up by their parents. In case parents should be very late, the child will join the lunch care group in the meantime, to have some food and drinks.
Is the price different if I book 3 course days, but at the end decide to book another 2 days?
No! From a course duration of 3 days it is possible to book the extra days by paying only the difference of the course fee! Hence, at the end you pay the same price!
How does the group assignment occur?
Many of our guests are repeat guests. These guests, meaning children - receive a performance pass - adults usually already know the ski instructors. Group assignment for recurring participants is usually done by interview. For those who are at the Adventure Rauris Ski School for the first time, grouping occurs after oral discussions and estimation of skills, age and language. Afterwards, the skills are tested on an easy slope. If the group assignment should once not meet the requirements of the participant for whatever reason, it is possible to change the group at any time.
Will I get my money back if the children don't like the course?
In general, money is only refunded upon presentation of a doctor's certificate (illness, injury) and only for the remaining course days. We have however several offers (trial pass, extension day, ...) in order to reduce the "risk" as much as possible!
Can I swap from a ski course to a snowboard course or vice versa?
This is of course no problem.
Please inform our office staff one day in advance and you will be registered for another course.
Does the Ski School have a ski rental shop?
Adventure Rauris has a ski, board and cross-country ski rental shop, inclusive of sledges, fun devices and helmets.
Furthermore, the Ski School has a small shop offering everything else you need for winter sports.
Is it possible to book a certain instructor for a group course?
In general, this is possible. Please inform us about your wish by e-mail as early as possible.
For group courses we are however not able to guarantee a certain instructor.
How early should I book a private ski instructor?
In general the earlier, the better!
Here you can insert your wishes in our booking system and the private instructor will be reserved for you!
Is it possible to book lunch care for single days only?
Yes, but please book lunch care one day ahead in our office, but at the latest on the same day before course start!
What age do children have to be to start a ski course?
Children can participate at a ski course from 4 years.
Children can participate at a snowboard course from 7-8 years.
For snowboard: if the child is younger than 7 years of age, we recommend booking a Private instructor.
What is the difference between a taster course and a normal course?
The difference is, that booking a taster course means you save money if the child does not want to continue the course.
Hence, taster days are only possible for children at the age of 4-5.
The price of the taster ticket will be deducted from the course fee, if you book a course afterwards. You only pay the difference of the remaining course days
Do you have instructors who speak English and Dutch?
We have Dutch and English speaking instructors, and Austrian instructors who speak some Dutch. However we can not promise, that the course language will be Dutch.
We always try to meet your demands. Please inform us at the point of group assignment. We will do our best to satisfy your requirements.
Is pre-booking required for group courses?
Normally there is plenty of space in the group courses.
We recommend registering through our booking system though.
Do the course days have to be booked on consecutive days?
We recommend booking the course on consecutive days, since the group makes progress every day and you might lose out on success. Staying behind the group might result in a change of group. The best thing is to speak to your instructor.
Can I pay by credit card or EC card?
We accept the following cards:
- EC - Card
Is it possible to join a group for one day only?
We recommend at least 3 consecutive days. If you decide to extend the course, you only pay the difference. When booking only 1 day and extending the course for another day only, you always pay the daily rate. If you book 3 consecutive days and extend the course afterwards, the price is lower.
Furthermore, the programme for group courses is based on a full week.
For beginners especially, we recommend booking a 5-day course to lay the base for future skiing holidays. Have fun with the offer of the Adventure Rauris Ski & Snowboard School!
