Questions and answers
General information on the ADVENTURE RAURIS Ski School and the Ski Rental Shop
Is the ski pass included in the ski course?
Ski passes have to be purchased separately at the cable cars. Children up to 6 years do not need a ski pass.
Ski school kids, who are still skiing in the beginners' area, can use the lift facility and the magic carpet for free. When the course moves on to public lift facilities, children from 6 years will need a ski pass.
Note: If the whole family wants to use the lift facilities, we recommend purchasing a family ski pass from the first day.
Further information available at the Rauris Hochalmbahnen.
Do beginners need a ski pass?
Yes. Everyone needs a ski pass to use the cable car facilities. On the first day, beginners buy a one-day beginner’s ski pass. After the course, they discuss the type of pass they need for the rest of the week with the instructor. The special rate is only available at the cable car ticket office in the company of the ski instructor.
Are half day courses offered too?
We offer half-day courses for private lessons and snowboarding lessons.
- 2 hours in the morning from 10 am to 12 noon and
- 2 hours in the afternoon from 1 pm to 3 pm.
All other group courses include four hours:
Can children join the same group?
Grouping of children is mainly based on the skiing skills and the age of children. If your children or friends ski equally well, please tell your instructor before you are assigned to groups on day one, and we will do our best to keep you together! If your children do not ski equally well, the child who skis better would have to take care of the weaker one.
Do we have to take the whole 5 or 6 days of the course, or can we book fewer days?
Our programme for groups is built around a week of ski races and fantastic activities. So it makes sense to attend the course for the entire 5 or 6 days. You can, of course, attend a course for fewer days.
We recommend a week-long course, especially for beginners.
INFO:
- Children's courses: 4 to 6 days.
- Adults' courses: 4 to 5 days.
- Snowboard courses: 4 to 6 days with 2 hours each day.
In terms of time, is it possible for children and parents to attend ski courses?
Yes, grouping is done in a way that the meeting points for adults and children are in close proximity.
Children are supervised until they get picked up by their parents. If parents arrive very late, the child will be taken with the rest of the group to the lunchtime supervision. They will then be given something to eat and drink while they wait.
How are skiers allocated to groups?
Many of our guests are repeat guests. This means guests who have been with us several times before. These children get a proficiency pass, most of the adults already know the ski instructors. In such cases, the instructor will do the assigning, mainly by conducting interviews. If this is your first time at the Adventure Rauris Ski and Snowboard School, you will be assigned to a group after you’ve been asked a few questions. The instructor will take your skiing ability, age and language into consideration. Your proficiency will then be tested on an easy terrain. You can change groups any time you like if you feel the group isn’t right for you.
Do I get my money back if the children don’t like it?
As a matter of principle, we only refund money on presentation of a medical certificate (injury, illness). It will be proportionate to the duration of the course. Please note, however, that we have several offers available (taster ticket, extension, etc.) so that you can keep the "risk" as low as possible.
Does the Ski School have a ski rental shop?
Adventure Rauris has a ski, board and cross-country ski rental shop, inclusive of sledges, fun equipment and helmets.
The ski school also has a small shop selling everything you need for winter sports.
Is it possible to book a group course with a particular instructor?
In principle, yes, but please contact us by e-mail as soon as possible.
There is no guarantee with group courses.
How early do we have to book a private lesson?
In general the earlier, the better!
Indicate what you would like online and we will reserve your private instructor for you.
From what age can children attend the ski course?
- From 4 years for alpine skiing.
- From 7 to 8 years for snowboard.
- Snowboard: If the child is younger than 7 years, we recommend booking a private instructor.
What is the difference between a taster course and a normal course?
The difference is that if the child does not want to stay in the course, this ticket is a concession in terms of price. This is why this taster ticket is only valid for 4 to 5 year olds.
The price of the taster ticket will be deducted from the course fee, if you book a course afterwards. So you only need to pay the difference.
Do you have Dutch and English-speaking instructors?
We have Dutch and English-speaking instructors as well as Austrian instructors who speak some Dutch. However, we cannot always promise that all Dutch-speaking participants will be taught in their own language.
Of course, we will do our best to accommodate your wishes. Please let us know when you are assigned to your group.
Is pre-booking required for group courses?
Normally there is plenty of space in the group courses.
We would, however, recommend registering via our direct online booking system.
Do the course days have to be booked on consecutive days?
You should take the course days one after the other as the group practises hard every day and you do want not run the risk of falling behind. You might, otherwise, have to change groups. It is best to discuss your wishes directly with your ski instructor.
Is it possible to join a group course for only one day?
We recommend taking part in the course for at least 3 days at a time, as you only have to pay the difference if you want to extend the course. If you book 1 day and want to extend, you always pay for the current day. If you book 3 days and want to extend, there is a reduced rate.
Furthermore, the programme for group courses is based on a full week.
We recommend a 5-day course, especially for beginners, as this will give you a good grounding for your future skiing holidays.
